Volunteers are vital to Turtle Ridge's success in all of its endeavors. There are many volunteer opportunities for you to help us at TRWC. Listed below are just a few of the positions in which help is needed:

Animal Care - Work one on one with staff in the rehabilitation & animal husbandry process.
This might include help with feeding, caring, cleaning cages. Skills needed:
a) follow directions well
b) patience
Quick Response Team - Be first on the scene to assist & help wildlife. Assess the animal
for transport or care. Use the opportunity to share with the caller/home owner the
importance of living with wildlife, rehabilitation and conservation. Skills needed:
a) be willing to use own vehicle
b) present a professional image to the community in stressful situations
c) be willing to use live-traps or catch-poles
Wild-Line - Join the phone-line called "Wild-Line". Here you will answer calls from
the public, dispatch volunteers from the QRT and give out information. Skills needed:
a) present a professional image to the community in stressful situations
b) enjoy talking to people and do it with a calming voice
c) be able to gently handle irate people
d) paper work
LAW Project - Help Turtle Ridge with the LAW project. Learn About Wildlife visits schools
and community education programs to help people become aware of conservation, and be better
ambassadors of wildlife and the environment. Skills needed:
a) enjoy talking & teaching small to large groups of people
Cork Project - Contact wineries, restaurants, caterers and ask for their used wine corks
TRWC uses them in projects for fund-raising. Drop off a TRWC bucket for them to start
collecting the corks for us. Skills needed:
a) be willing to use your own vehicle
b) enjoy talking to people and asking for these contributions
c) check on your winery, restaurant etc on a weekly basis
