Help - I found an injured animal/bird (bleeding, shivering, attacked by dog/cat, hit by car)
Place a clean, soft cloth with no strings or loops on the bottom of a cardboard box or cat carrier. Make some air holes if there aren’t any already.
Using a piece of cotton sheet or a light-weight towel, gently cover the animal (especially its head) and pick it up and place inside the container.
You must keep the animal warm and can do this by placing some warm water inside a water bottle and placing that under the sheet. Make sure the container doesn’t leak or the animal could get chilled or wet.
Tape the box shut but make sure there are air holes.
Place the box in a warm, dark and quiet place.
Do not give it food or water
Leave the animal alone and do not handle it or show it to others as this will cause stress and it can die
Make sure you keep all pets and children away from it
Please do not keep the box in the same room as the children or where the TV is as that is too noisy.

Help - I found a baby bird without feathers or not very many
It’s a nestling – can you find the nest and is it intact? If so, place the baby bird back into the nest. If its not intact, make a substitute nest by poking holes in the bottom of a container (cool whip, butter, etc).
Line it with dry grass, the old nest if you can find it, pine needles, soft material. Then hang it from the original tree – try an keep the same level if possible.
Its ok that you have touched the baby bird, the mother will still accept it. Watch and make sure the mother returns within two hours. If she does not return, call us at 503-540-8664.
Help - I found a baby bird with feathers
It’s a fledging – and normal behavior is to be hopping on ground because the parents are still feeding it. If it is safe from dogs or cats, just leave it be. If its not safe from dogs or cats, place the bird in the bushes or on a branch in a tree.
Its ok that you have touched the baby bird, the mother will still accept it. Watch and make sure the mother returns within two hours. If she does not return, call us at 503-540-8664.
Help - I found a baby mammal (squirrel, raccoon, skunk, deer, beaver, etc)
Place the baby in a shallow box lined with soft cloth close to where it was found. Keep it warm but out of the sun and/or rain.
Watch for the mother for 4-6 hours. You must stay completely out of sight. She will not return if people or pets are present.
If the mother returns, leave the area. If after 6 hours the mother does not return, give us a call at 504-540-8664.
Remember – Mother Deer may leave their fawn for up to 8 hours unattended. Do not remove them unless you know the mother is dead or she has not returned in 8 hours.
